Research Interest:

Prevention of serious disorder in adolescence and adulthood, particularly antisocial behavior and related dysfunctions. Identification of childhood risk factors for disorder. Social development in childhood and adolescence, including peer relations, aggression and social rejection, competence and emotional development. Longitudinal research is underway with three large cohorts followed from age 8 through early adulthood. Prevention research includes two large, community-based prevention trials that are being implemented and evaluated. One is prevention with early school-aged children at high risk for serious, life-course-persistent conduct problems. The second is with early adolescent social network factors leading to heightened adolescent violence and risk-taking behaviors. A third community-based prevention program with daycare and preschool children and their families is just beginning.
